Over the years I have accumulated so many T-Shirts from football games, camping trips, church events and more. I love them, but they just sit in my closet and I thought I should put good use to them! This crop top took me about 10 minutes to make, and was super easy since I’m not that talented when it comes to needles (sewing needles that is), I was excited to create this at ease. It’s summertime, crop tops are one of the trends that just won’t leave. Instead of paying money for a crop top, go find some of your older t-shirts and make your own. All you need for this project is your T-Shirt, a good pair of scissors, and about 10 minutes of your time.

First thing, lay your T-Shirt out on a towel with a flat service, even if you were the snowflake cutter champion in Pre-K, I’m sure you don’t want any holes in your carpet or cuts on the table. Play it safe with a towel. We are going to cut the sleeves off to create what will look like a muscle tee. When you first cut the sleeve off, it will look like picture one, with the edges jagged. You failed! Kidding, just pull the insides of the armpit area and the top part of the armpit area apart and the fabric will roll in.

Next, Flip your T-Shirt over and cut a slit in the side, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Try to get as close to the seam as possible. Do the same thing to the other side so you create an awkward flap. Flip the flap upwards. After you flip it upwards, jut cut the layer that is flipped up, keep the bottom (the layer touching the towel) the way it is.

After you flip your shirt over, you are almost done!! At this step you can adjust the sleeves and make the cuts deeper if you would like. I cut the collar off of the shirt by cutting as closest to the seam as possible.

From here, cut off the sides into a triangle shape, then cut a slit in between the two triangles. It’s up to you how long you want your ties to be or how short. I like my ties to be between 1 1/2 – 2inches so I can tie it twice. Now you are done! 🙂 Enjoy your new crop top!
